This WIC provides a single port for connecting to an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Basic Rate Interface (BRI) connection with a Network Termination 1 (NT1) interface. This also supports Cisco\u2019s proprietary Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP), which provides an additional layer of security for PPP connections. CHAP uses a randomly generated challenge string that is sent to the remote user, who must then respond with the correct value.
