The Dell JW063 PERC 6\/IR PCI-Express X8 SAS RAID Controller provides data protection by offering RAID levels that provide data redundancy. RAID 1, for example, creates a mirrored copy of data across two hard drives, so if one hard drive fails, the data is still available on the other hard drive. RAID 5 provides data protection by striping data across multiple hard drives and using parity to allow for data recovery if one hard drive fails. RAID 6 provides additional data protection by using double parity, allowing for data recovery if two hard drives fail.
